The Guest as God

Even if you have to sleep in a car or a reclining chair or a child visitor cries in the middle of the night and awakens the entire household... a guest or guests must be treated with great care and respect. Sastra says one's guest might even be an enemy, but he or she should never be made to feel that way.

Think of the brahmana who served our acharya, Bilvamangala Thakur by even offering his wife for the Thakur's pleasure. At the time our acharya was in a fallen state to teach us a great lesson. He had followed the beautiful wife of the brahmanas to their home and requested to enjoy with her. The liberal brahmana didn't hold back, but immediately made arrangements to satisfy his guest.

This touched the heart of our acarya so deeply, that he immediately repented and we all know the rest of the story -how he blinded himself so he would never again lust over another man's wife.
