Every position in life requires a qualification. To get a job or to rent an apartment, you have some qualification. Even to land in jail or visit there, what to speak of visiting the president of the United States or going back to Godhead... everything requires some sort of qualification.
A couple days ago, the head of the deity worship for ISKCON temples, Nrsimha Kavaca Prabhu, gave a talk in that regard. The standard is when there is an abhishek being performed, qualified brahmanas should be the ones doing the bathing of the deities rather than the the assembly in general. The latter should only watch, unless and until they desire to get the qualification to do so.
Is this not motivating? And rightfully shows that deity worship is a very special privilege!
